1 – Repair the Neck: Because Most Issues Come With The Neck
Every issue starts with the guitar’s neck except repairing a warped neck or removing frets.
If your guitar’s neck is warped or you require truss rod repairs, you should purchase a genuine replacement neck, whether it comes from a donor guitar with a thrashed body beyond restoration.
It is entirely up to you what type of tuners you purchase and also how they are arranged. If your setup involves a different number of tuners, look for the same exact set of tuners in the same orientation. If necessary, replace the nut with a different material.
2 – Repairing The Body & Saving Extra Cost
In addition to the main shape, some wings possibly have been broken by dropped guitars or other damage.
To avoid damaging the bond, you need to be extra careful when gluing in the wings. A guitar body with a thick neck does not usually require repairing wings or body woods.
It is common for strap buttons to become loose and fall off.
Use the same technique as repairing a bolt-on neck hole, but be careful not to overtighten screws and always use a screwdriver that is suitable for the job.
If a neck joint breaks at the sides or other cuts, fix it properly and follow the same procedure as repairing body wings.
Suppose you notice any damage to the joint where the screws bolt-on, you need to either replace or repair it.
Tips for Keeping Guitar Strings In Top Shape
In order to make sure that your instrument stays in perfect shape and lasts longer, you should learn how to properly care for it as soon as you start playing your bass guitar.
For example, the strings of your guitar become dirty if you do not keep them clean. Dust and dirt combined with oils from your fingers can cause the strings to become damaged very quickly.
Guitar strings that break are as painful as heartbreaks. Many guitarists claim that a broken string hurts more than anything else! The truth is, it happens to everyone, including professionals.
You can protect your guitar properly by following these tips:
- Selecting the Right Strings
- Cleaning the Strings
- Cleaning the Neck
- Cleaning the Body
3 – Cleaning And Restoring Electronics
It is not possible to repair and restore a pickup other than re-connecting the coil wire. When you do this, you aren’t repairing; instead, you are customizing.
To restore or repair pickups, magnetize the coil magnets using a strong earth magnet.
When replacing the coil wire, remove the tape and then reconnect it correctly.
4 – The Essential Tools for Guitar Setup
- Tapered Feeler Gauge Set
- Precision Ruler – Metric and Imperial
- String Cutters (Side Cutters)
- String Winder
- Guitar Tuner
- Truss Rod Wrench
- Guitar Neck Support
- Guitar Screwdriver and Wrench Set
- Guitar Knob Puller
In addition to WD-40, you can also use contact cleaner to clean switches; be sure to clean the indented part of the switch when using the solvent. First, replace a switch, obtain the correct one for your guitar and then connect it in the right place.
5 – Replacing Hardware To Avoid Hard Work
If you wish to remove spots and clean painted bridges and stop bars, use plain water and a microfiber cloth.
Steel wool should not be rubbed on painted bridge covers to avoid scratches. The pickup rings should be the same length and color, and the screw holes should be resized if needed.
The knobs you place on pots enable you to turn them easily. If you are having trouble placing knobs on your pots because they are broken, or the holes are enlarged, tape the shaft so you can keep the knob in place.
When you are unable to do so, you may have to replace the knobs.
